It’s Almost Time.

My marathon is in less than a week!

People continually ask me how I’m feeling and I respond with not words but instead, cringes and weird noises.

I’m shitting my pants a little to be honest (excuse my language).

WHAT AM I DOING?

Scared is an understatement.

Yesterday officially marked race season in Vancouver with the Sun Run. I didn’t run the 10k race, but let me tell ya – I was suffering from some serious FOMO.

If you are unfamiliar with the term: Fear Of Missing Out.

Next year I will not miss it for the world! I’ve already decided.

I was filled with adrenaline and excitement all day and ahhhh, it got me really nervous for this upcoming weekend.

I started frantically reading blogs and recaps of last years race and it got me even more nervous! Needless to say I am freaking out a little but it will be fine. I will drown my sorrows in carbs and cupcakes all week :D

Just kidding, I am trying to eat and hydrate very very well but nevertheless, cupcakes will be had post race if I don’t die.

I’ve actually come down with a bit of a cold so I am trying to also fight that off! No getting sick before the big day.

I have also been trying to add more music to my playlist for the big day – please send over any songs that you are loving lately, new tunes are hard to come by these days I find.

Oh, and any tips for the week leading up to marathon day would be greatly appreciated too! :D

    GET OUT OF YOUR HEAD. That is my advice. You will not burn up in flames if you need to walk, or stop (YOU WILL BE FINE) SO run this race with your heart and HAVE FUN!! It’s not everyday you get to run a marathon. You’ve worked up to this, you’ve earned it, and RUN HARD TO GET THAT CUPCAKE! BOOYA I cannot wait for your recap!

  • you are going to do amazingggggggggggggggg. ignore the cold, drink your fluids, and think only about successfully finishing the race. i am a big believer in repeating a positive mantra in your head and kind of pysching yourself into success. EAT LOTS OF CUPCAKES AFTERWARDS!!!

    Tips- just make sure you are super hydrated and eat properly the day before!!! and during the race- just keep in the positive mindset! when i ran mine, i convinced myself i was doin a 16 miles run and then a 10 mile run. It seemed easier to break it into chunks.

      So true! I just need to envision myself crossing that finish line – better yet that beauty medal around my neck! Thanks for those tips, I have been hydrating like a crazy person this week already (but not too much either!). Totally breaking the run into chunks, it’ll be easier FOR SURE!

  • I’ve never done a marathon but I know you are going to really shock yourself. You’re going to do awesome and honestly, those cupcakes might be some good fuel for ya ;) I can’t wait to hear how you do but do not freak out about it. Just look at it as another run and you’ll enjoy it SO much more. GOOD LUCK

  • My best advice is to get out of your head and just enjoy the run! Today marks my two year marathoniversary.. and it’s probably the only one I’ll ever do. Can’t wait to hear about it. Run for the cupcake <3

  • I cannot wait for your race!!!! You will do awesome! (I know what you mean about not being able to answer when you’re super nervous about something though :) )

    My best advice: try to relax, sleep well, and don’t read too much into any niggles you have, what you’re eating, how you’re hydrating, etc. Also, try to intake more salt than you normally would! And, remember the long runs you’ve put into this if you start to doubt yourself.

    If we don’t hear from you before- GOOD LUCK and HAVE FUN!!! Remember- you’re running a marathon!!! There’s not much more exciting and challenging than that! It will hurt towards the end, but push through and before you know it you’ll be crossing that finish line! And I totally agree with the above- break the race down into chunks!

      Thanks Abby!! I love your advice :) I may blog before but I haven’t decided yet – we will see!! I can do it, I WILL do it – its just nuts! I never EVER thought I would run a marathon and now its here – time flewwwww!! xx

    You, my dear, have absolutely NOTHING to worry about! No matter what you are going to finish…no matter your time it will be a PB for you :) Keep that in mind! AND the fact that you are running a FULL marathon is just plain inspiring…just know that!!! we NEED to Skype before! xoxo Keep eating those cupcakes!

      We do need to Skype.. omg Amy, I am flipping terrified but I will cross that finish line! Training would have been so much more fun if you would have been here!! miss you like mad!
